    I arrived in Bucharest on 18 Dec 2009 and wanted to exchange dollars for ron. Luckily, there three or four exchange desks in the baggage retrieval area once you passed through customs. The counter people were very friendly and the cash conversion was quick and efficient. 

August 24, 2015 - $1 USA = 3.85 RON Romania

Important, you need your pin number whenever you use your 

Visa or Mastercard, so don't forget your pin number.  

ALSO call the credit card company and tell them of your travel plans 

or your use will be blocked.
